Arizona State Credit Union Helps Fight ID Theft in 4th Annual Shred-a-Thon
Credit Union offers $150 to those who open qualifying checking account during green community events
PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union encourages community members to get rid of old, sensitive documents by shredding and recycling them at one of the Credit Union’s eight Shred-a-Thon events.
Members and non-members can also receive $150 when they open a qualifying checking account.
Events will occur throughout the Credit Union’s Northern Arizona branches with Prescott Valley kicking off the series on March 26. This is free to all members of the community and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.
This is the fourth consecutive year Arizona State Credit Union has hosted shred events. As part of a sustainable model, this green initiative is just one of many outreach programs that give back to members and Arizona communities.
“Last year’s Shred-a-Thon proved to be successful with more than 47,000 pounds of paper recycled during the eight events,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “Such an impressive turnout suggests there is a large need for this service. As a local financial cooperative, we are more than happy to provide this added value for the communities we continue to serve.”
Important documents to bring to the Shred-a-Thons include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents.
Shred-A-Thons will be hosted at eight of the Northern Arizona State Credit Union branches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are open to all members of the community, with a limit of five boxes per person. Below is a complete list of branches and dates:
