Arizona State Credit Union Has Successful Turnout in First 2013 Shred Event
Shred-a-Thon helps Prescott Valley community battle ID theft
PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union hosted its first 2013 shred event in Prescott Valley on Tuesday, March 26, where more than 6,080 pounds of paper were shredded and recycled.
With lines wrapped around the parking lot an hour before the event started, community members filled almost an entire truck, which equates to saving 30 trees.
The Credit Union’s Chino Valley branch is the second of eight stops on the Shred-a-Thon tour. Community members are encouraged to drop off their old sensitive documents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. The event is free of charge and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.
“It’s a welcoming site to see so many appreciative community members wanting to participate in a good cause,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “With this being our fourth year hosting such events, community members look to this service to safely destroy their sensitive documents. We are happy we can meet such a community need and include this green initiative as part of our cooperative business model.”
Important documents to bring to the Shred-a-Thons include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. Members and non-members can also receive $150 when they open a qualifying checking account.
