Arizona State Credit Union Recycles Record Amount at First 2012 Shred Event
Shred-A-Thon finds success in Prescott Valley
PHOENIX, Ariz. - Arizona State Credit Union hosted its first 2012 Shred event in Prescott Valley on Tuesday, March 27, where more than 7,550 pounds of paper were shredded and recycled. This equates to saving 38 trees and is the second highest amount shredded at an event since the Credit Union began hosting the Shred-A-Thon in 2010.
The Credit Union's Chino Valley branch is the second of eight stops on the Shred-A-Thon tour. Community members are encouraged to drop off their old sensitive documents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10. The event is free of charge and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.
"It's a welcoming site to see so many appreciative community members wanting to participate in a good cause," said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. "With this being our third year hosting such events, community members look to this service to safely destroy their sensitive documents. We are happy we can meet such a community need and include this green initiative as part of our cooperative business model."
Important documents to bring to the Shred-A-Thons include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. Community members will also be placed into a drawing to win an Apple iPad when they apply for a Visa® Platinum Credit Card.
Shred-A-Thons will be hosted at Northern Arizona Credit Union branches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are free and open to all members of the community, with a limit of five boxes per person. Below is a complete list of branches and dates:
